Hope that you will join us regularly
as we travel the scenic route through

Don't want to sound like the same old, same old....

I really feel like starting this entry with an apology for not getting to this sooner. I'm thinking I could give many excuses. I feel I may have let you down. Then I think to myself, "My goodness, do you think everyone is checking your blog everday to see if you've written anything? Come on. I don't think so!" So I thought more about my expectations and imaginations of others...what is my doing this all about? Then I begin over thinking things again...that's one thing I'm really good at.

So, as I write this, I've decided to give myself a break and encourage myself that this is not a performance....just something I'd like to do when I want to and feel I have something to say. So, no appologies. Just to set the record straight, I'm not going to say sorry that I haven't written something for X amount of time...there is no X...I'm throwing out the X factor and I'm going to write what I want, when I want. Do you hear me? (This is me talking to myself again.) No performing. No expectations. No imaginations of what others are thinking or what they expect of me. Nope. None of that. This is my blog and I'm never going to apologize for what I decide to do with it.

That being said. I thank you for listening. Now it's your turn...I love feedback. I love hearing from you. Do you have something on your mind? a comment? Anyone...anyone?

Hangin' Loose and Stayin' Flexible....

Being on the road for an extended length of time is different, in some ways. then being on vacation.

When we’re on vacation we have a certain amount of time which usually cannot be adjusted.

Come rain, come shine we have to be home at the designated, predetermined time.
If sickness, injury, or an accident should occur the length of our vacation remains the same.

What we do in that period of time is up to us and if we’ve planned a trip and any of the afore mentioned calamity’s should occur…….well, it’s fun time lost.

This can add the element of stress to our vacation, which is exactly what we don’t want.

On the other hand, if we are traveling willy nilly, hither and yon with a very loose agenda and it’s not sunny every day of the trip it’s a little easier to take.

We can just adjust which is exactly what Gary and I are doing today because it’s raining on our adventure! So we're thinking of inside things to do......

(I actually wrote this last Wednesday when we were in Morgan Hill for two days, with the rain pounding, the wind blowing, a little lightning, a little thunder...just like being home in Oregon, nevertheless we were as snug as two bugs in a rug! All the comforts of home..at home in our Arctic Fox.)

On the Road Again.....

People ask my husband if it's hard to get used to retirement. His answer is always the same. He always says retirement is highly underated! We find it to be the most exciting time of our lives especially the part of the year that includes going on the road, pulling our trailer to parts known and unknown, and enjoying the fact that we never know what will come in a day.

After being home in the Portland area for six and a half months we got into our truck and drove down the street pulling our loaded trailer to our first destination, Florence, Oregon. We drove just under 150 miles. Just about right we think. We've been set free from the "over achieving mindset"!

We've been trying to leave for about two weeks but one thing after another has kept us at home. It reminded my husband and I of Ground Hogs day, we'd get up and say we're going today so let's finish getting ready. We just couldn't quite finish and feel good about going. We'd think of things we still needed to do like go to the dentist. See the doctor for another ultra sound treatment, always one thing after another. Two weeks after our original leaving date we now have our camp set up and are getting ready for our first sleep on the road. We can hardly believe that we made it out of town and are looking for the months ahead, thinking this is going to be our best trip ever. It must be, afterall it was like something was trying to keep us from leaving....we faced a bit of resistance but it didn't keep us at home. Yes, victory already.

I've been having back pain with spasms that was a result of a little fender bender I was in. We didn't want to go until I was better and this morning I said, " Well I can not feel good on the road just as well as here at home, so let's go!" To my surprise, when we arrived at our destination, my back felt better than it had in days. Our truck has great, comfortable very supportive seats and that made a huge difference. Very encouraging and very comforting. Yes, another victory.

So, we got unhooked in the Port of Suislaw RV Park on the Suislaw River, went to Moe's in Old Town Florence, and are about ready to rest our heads in our cozy queen bed. I know, roughing it is tuff! We're looking forward to our first cup of coffee tommorow morning on the first morning of our 2010 adventure........wonder what God's got up His sleeve.....we'll see from moment to moment.....what a life!
